I’ve been on a 20-day steroid course for tears in my shoulder and back. Today is Day 12. I think I’ve slept approximately 40 hours total since I started this treatment!
The good news is, the more awake hours plus a renewed joy have allowed me to get so much done.
And with the time change, I’d cleaned the entire house, written two articles, finalized trip arrangements, and reorganized two upstairs closets by 10 AM this morning.
I kinda miss my old friend, Sleep! 💤 😂
But it’s a new season.
After Mom died, I went into a more reflective season. I read more. I slept. I declined invitations, preferring to stay at home. It wasn’t depression—though there was certainly grief—but rather a time to be still.
Like Paul said in Philippians 4:11, I was content to be right where I was. I knew it was neither wrong, nor permanent.
Now a stack of library books sit unopened on my nightstand because I have returned to a more extroverted and creative season. I don’t want to read; I want to write. I don’t want to stay still; I want to move. I still enjoy nights in, but I’m enjoying outings again.
I want all the experiences! 🎉
Right now, though, I’m taking a moment to sit on the front porch swing and just appreciate the gentle breeze in the air and the colors of the leaves. The birds are singing as the trees sway in tandem. It is an ordinary day, one that holds no special meaning and yet a priceless one as well: God is in it all. The stillness. The chaos. The beauty. The ashes.
Whatever season you are in, embrace it.…idk I’ve tried to end this a few different ways.
