Media Monday: No Smoke

You see, something happens when I find myself so filled with pain that I find my toes inching over that edge into darkness.

I get furious.

I’ve already been to hell and back. The warmth of that fire turns into a blazing inferno, destroying everything in its path.

Starting with you.

Decades of dancing with the devil leave more than just your toes bruised. It takes two to tango, and I hung up my dancing shoes long ago.

But when hurt and grief and fatigue set in, your armor goes down. I had days where I just didn’t care anymore. Like a game of chess, the devil had me just two moves away from checkmate.

And I remembered just how much I hate to lose.

Like a roaring lion I stood back up, teeth baring, and told him in no uncertain terms who I was and Whose I was. He could throw me in the fiery furnace a thousand times, but I’d come out 1,001 with no smoke on me.

God has a purpose for my life. Truth is, He always has. I just wasn’t walking in it for many years. I am now. Some days I may be crawling, but I’m moving forward. No matter how hot the fire gets.

🎶 I’ll walk into that furnace
‘Cause I’m not alone in that flame
I won’t fear when the fire starts burning
‘Cause I bow for just one name
🎶

King Nebuchadnezzar said, “I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt.” Daniel 3:25

No Smoke (Emerson Day, 2026)

Make it seven times hotter
‘Cause my God can take the heat
I’m not gonna back down, standing my ground now
And I’m gonna walk out with no smoke on me
No smoke on me
I got something that you ain’t got
On my side is the one true God
