Media Monday: All Because of Mercy

I know the only reason I can stand here unashamed…
is not because I’m worthy,
it’s all because of mercy.

Truer words have never been spoken.

I should be on my knees in sackcloth, face in the dirt, for all I’ve done in my life. I don’t deserve the life I now live. I am not worthy of the platform.

But His mercy abounds.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

How great is it to have a God so loving and kind that He restores us after our darkest hours? To have a love that forgives when we willfully sin? To experience peace after choosing to chase the storm?

It is God’s mercy that renews, resuscitates, and redeems us.

We can’t do that on our own—it is all Him. And we can’t control whether others see us through the lens of grace.

But we can stand tall—a dead man brought back to life—and know that the debt has been paid. We are now free.

All Because of Mercy (Casting Crowns, 2022)

I could stand here
And try to tell you
I found my way here on my own
Brought to life this heart of stone
Made up my own mind
To change my own life
Working my own way to good
As if anybody could
But the truth is I’ve been broken since my very first breath
And the truth is I’ve been wandering since my very first step
I know the only reason
I can stand here unashamed
Is not because I’m worthy
It’s all because of mercy
