In the book of Luke, the disciples come back to Jesus excited that the demons were subject to them in His name. He gently redirects them, telling them to rejoice instead that their names are written in Heaven. (Luke 10:17-20)
I try to live by those directions, turning my eyes toward Him instead of rejoicing over the enemy’s defeat. Sometimes it’s hard. I let the devil bully and torment me for years. There’s always a sense of satisfaction when you stand up to a bully.
Even Cindy Brady taunted Buddy Hinton after her brother Peter finally stood up to his bullying and knocked his tooth loose.
But I know that taunting the devil is like playing with fire. Besides, what better way to get to someone than to ignore them completely?
Sometimes, though…
We just have to remind ourselves who we belong to. And tell Satan where to go.
This song reminds us of the power we have when everything seems to be going wrong.
🎶 Oh, why? Oh, why?
Does it feel just like a warzone in my mind?
As I fight the fight
And try to hear Your voice through all the lies 🎶
And so we pray…
🎶 And as I prayed, I heard my Father say
“Tell those demons, run and hide”
They tremble at the name of Jesus every time…Fear ain’t got a home here up inside my mind…Darkness has to leave up in this light 🎶
I can’t deny that I get riled up sometimes. I march right into the fire for people and causes I believe in. I speak truth into the darkness. I volunteer for the fiery furnace. I know I will come out unsinged.
I will hold your hand and walk you out of darkness. I’ll sit in the valley until you’re strong enough to stand. I will cover your head while arrows are flung into your mind.
But I’m gonna step to the mic when I encounter wolves in sheep’s clothing.
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
2 Corinthians 11:14-15
demons (Josiah Queen, 2026)
🎶There’s a time to remind
I was a prisoner in my own mind, a hostage every night
My loneliness, it kept me haunted by a darkness all my life
Then I heard a voice down in my bones
Felt this sense of peace that I had never known and as I prayed, I heard my Father say, “Tell those demons, run and hide”
They tremble at the name of Jesus every time 🎶
