Media Monday: Miracles

🎶 How do miracles just happen like that?
Happen like that, happen like that
You can say the stars align but
I know that it’s more than timing
🎶

I don’t believe in happenstance. I believe in divine timing. It was not a coincidence that my friend Susanna told me about the Abbey of Gethsemani right as my world was imploding. It wasn’t chance that the monk stressed during orientation that the retreat was not a time to fix relationships, but to get alone with God. (I’ve been back three times since. He’s not once said that again.)

It wasn’t a coincidence that my friend Joanna invited me to Cenla Women’s Connection right after I saw my support system become virtually nonexistent. The Lord built it back up with godly women who gave me the support I so desperately needed.

And it absolutely wasn’t pure chance that the Lord brought me home for my mother’s last three years. It wasn’t stars aligning or happy timing. What looked like disaster was a miracle, and I’ve experienced enough in my life to recognize the Lord in the midst of them.

Some are big. Some are much smaller, and much easier to miss.

🎶 How do miracles just happen like that
Happen like that, happen like that
🎶

But I know God when I see Him. And I will forever thank Him for orchestrating a life that has been blessed beyond measure.
And show gratitude for forgiving me when I lost sight of that.

🎶 Right before I hit the ground some
How You came along and found me
🎶

Miracles aren’t karma. They aren’t serendipity. They are orchestrations from the One who holds the stars in His hands.

Miracles (Colton Dixon, 2020)

There’s no doubt when I feel Your love
Call me crazy and out of touch
But I know that it’s from above
Tell me
How do miracles just happen like that
Happen like that, happen like that
You can say the stars align but
I know that it’s more than timing
