The first time I heard this song, I knew it was the perfect anthem for me. It had everything I loved: redemption, fire, light, love, joy…
Best of all, it had a cool beat to dance to! You absolutely cannot sit still while singing this song!
The lyrics are the CliffsNotes of my testimony!
🎶 I don’t wanna waste my time
Trying to be a star
I wanna make You famous
Show ’em who You are
You’re the King over “can’t be dones”
I’m living proof for the hopeless ones
My purpose: Let others see Christ in me. Share hope. Keep my skeletal closet open as proof that in Christ, all can be overcome.
🎶 I’m a new creation, I’m a rebel redeemed
Somebody call me Paul, yeah I can do all things
I got a light in my eyes
I’ll be spending my life
Pointing everybody to You
New creation? Check. 2 Corinthians 5:17 is my favorite verse: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Redeemed rebel? Check check. I was that girl. That can’t-tell-me-what-to-do chick who now won’t make a move without playing a grown-up version of Father, May I?
Paul said it in Philippians: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)
It is a belief I hold true. Jesus said it first, the truth appearing in three of the gospels. With God, nothing is impossible. (Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27, Luke 1:37)
🎶 Lord, make me like the moon
Reflecting the sun
I’ll let the whole world know
Where my joy comes from
I used to stand in the mirror with hatred in my eyes for the girl looking back. Now all I see is Him. The light in me is from God alone and I make sure He gets the credit. Every single time.
🎶 I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna dance
And it ain’t got nothing to do with my circumstance
From the valley low, to the mountaintop
Don’t matter where I am
Don’t matter where I’m not
I’ve learned that joy doesn’t depend on circumstances. It doesn’t wane when you’re in a valley. When true joy arrives in your soul, it is there to stay.
True joy comes from surrender—from complete commitment to Christ—and its light can brighten the entire world.
Where My Joy Comes From (Unspoken, 2024)
More than a feeling, more than emotion
Is the glass half full?
No, it’s overflowing!
Now I see the light
And I’ll be spending my life
Pointing everybody to You
Lord, make me like the moon
Reflecting the sun
I’ll let the whole world know
Where my joy comes from
