THE FIRST LABOR DAY CELEBRATION WAS SEPTEMBER 5, 1882 IN NEW YORK CITY.

THE HOLIDAY IS OFTEN CONFUSED WITH “MAY DAY.”
Most other countries celebrate International Workers’ Day, or “May Day,” instead of Labor Day. The concept is the same, but it is celebrated on May 1 around the globe.

THE THEORY ABOUT WHY WE CAN’T WEAR WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY IS HIGHLY DEBATED.
Class separation, the end of summer, and magazine promotions of fall clothes are three prevailing theories!

LABOR DAY IRONICALLY CAUSES SOME OF THE LONGEST WORKING HOURS FOR RETAIL WORKERS.

LABOR DAY IS THE OFFICIAL END OF HOT DOG SEASON.

Labor Day is a great time to rest and have fun with friends and family. Even Jesus rested.

Mark 1:35 gives us just one example.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Whether you spend Labor Day relaxing in solitude or enjoying the company of others, give yourself that spiritual rest needed to go into Fall renewed and refreshed!
