It’s Sunday night! Time to gear up for a new week. As always, the best way to do that is to PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD (Ephesians 6:10-18) but we also will focus on ONE area to strengthen our walk with the Lord. Just one focus to help us grow a faith that cannot fade with the demands of life and the pressures of this world. This week we will focus on SMILING!
Lately I’ve been met with huge smiles. I thought something was on my face or I was wearing two different shoes. It took awhile to realize they were mirroring what was on MY face.
It made me think of the Reese Witherspoon “Legally Blonde” movie. Reese’s character, Elle Woods, is surmising that the defendant they’ve been hired to represent couldn’t possibly be guilty of murder because she owns an exercise franchise.
Elle: Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. And happy people don’t shoot other people.
Cue the laughter.
Only it isn’t as absurd to me as it was when I first heard it.
Because I HAVE been exercising. And smiling without even realizing it.
What a difference that has made! I’ve been more approachable; people have been friendlier in return.
This week our focus is on SMILING. Give an ear to ear grin to everyone you meet. They might think you’re a little nuts at first but I guarantee they’ll smile back. Before long, you won’t even have to force yourself to smile, it’ll come naturally.
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22
(Bonus Tip: Get some of those exercise endorphins and smiling will be even easier!!)
