I’d heard TobyMac’s song Move for months. In fact, it was Track 2 on my treadmill playlist for gym walking. Nothing like a little praise music to pump you up physically and spiritually.
But I had no idea the collective power of a song until I was sitting in an advance screening for the 2018 film Indivisble with a room full of ministry leaders. When a particularly moving scene found the protagonist once again discovering his inner strength, the entire room started singing along.
🎶 I know your heart been broke again
I know your prayers ain’t been answered yet
I know you’re feelin’ like you got nothin’ left
Well, lift your head
It ain’t over yet, it ain’t over yet, so
(Move) Keep walkin’
Soldier keep movin’ on
(Move) Keep walkin’
Until the mornin’ comes
(Move) Keep walkin’
Soldier keep movin’ on and lift your head
It ain’t over yet…
We knew his pain because we’d all been there. We’ve had our own crosses to bear, our own hills to climb, our own trials to suffer.
And we knew, beyond a shadow of doubt, that the only way to persevere was to keep moving.
🎶 Hold on, hold on
He’ll get you through this
Hold on, hold on
These are the promises
I never will forget, I never will forget, so
Hold on, hold on
The Lord ain’t finished yet
When you’re in the fight of your life, hold on. His promise is that He will never leave or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)
Even popular sayings echo the sentiment:
If you’re going through hell, just keep going….
It ain’t over til it’s over…
In other words, KEEP MOVING!
