I love how this song points back to the heroes of the Old Testament. Faith like Daniel, hope like Moses, a heart like David — those weren’t just lofty ideals, they were lived out in impossible situations. Daniel stood calm in a den of lions. Moses kept moving forward in the wilderness when there was no map. David faced down a giant with nothing but a sling and the name of the Lord.
That’s the kind of confidence I long for. Not confidence in myself, but in the God who defends me. If broken people are exactly who He uses, then my weakness is no disqualification — it’s the very reason His strength shines through me.
This Week’s Focus:
Confidence in Christ isn’t arrogance — it’s assurance. It means walking into the week believing He’s already gone ahead of you. It’s choosing to face your “giants” with prayer instead of panic, to keep showing up even when you feel unqualified, and to trust that the outcome belongs to God. Let’s live like Daniel, Moses, and David — ordinary people who leaned on an extraordinary God.
“So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’”
— Hebrews 13:6
Confidence (Sanctus Real, 2017)
So give me faith like Daniel in the lion’s den
Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness
Give me a heart like David, Lord be my defense
So I can face my giants with confidence.
