The devil does some of his best work at church. He’ll stir up minor misunderstandings, deepen old hurts, and plant seeds of isolation — all in an effort to keep us from fellowship. Why? Because he knows the power of believers gathered together.
I’ve had seasons where I was faithfully in church and seasons where I barely darkened the doorstep. But the foundation planted in my childhood never left me. Church was my sanctuary, my happy place — and by the Lord’s mercy, He has restored that love in me again.
Yes, you can worship God anywhere — in your car, on a walk, in your reading chair — but the devil twists that truth into an excuse to keep us from the collective strength of being together. Something sacred happens when believers gather. Walls come down, joy rises up, and you realize you’re not walking this life alone.
TobyMac’s A Lil Church captures that cry of the heart — the longing to belong, the reminder that we need our people, and the reality that when you’re at the end of your rope, God often strengthens you through the body of Christ.
This Week’s Focus:
If you’re planted in a church, look around and notice someone who hasn’t quite found their place. Make it your mission to help them feel connected. If you’ve been away — for hurt, for busyness, or for any reason — take a step back toward community. Visit. Try again. Restore the power of being with other believers.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
— Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
A lil Church (TobyMac, 2025)
I could use a little church right now
Love to have a little family around
I’ve been feelin’ so overwhelmed
I could use a little church right now
I can almost hear the choir singin’
Back to when I was a child believin’
That nobody’s too lost to get found
I could use a little church right now
