I used to sing this song as a solo in church, and I meant every word.
And yet, I kept going back. Back to the bonds of control. Back to letting anger call the shots. Back to leaning on medication instead of searching for the peace that surpasses all understanding.
It’s so easy to grab the world’s solutions when life gets hard. God is still there, but too often we relegate Him to the back-up plan.
There’s a difference between salvation and surrender. Becoming one of His is simple; submitting every thought and action to Him requires obedience, discipline, and—most of all—trust. It means believing He can handle it all. It also means standing firm in Him when life feels anything but comfortable.
This week’s focus: rely on the Lord alone when the storms hit. Don’t pacify your pain with television, music, or zoning-out distractions. Fall fully into His arms and leave behind the “weak and miserable forces” that keep you bound (Galatians 4:9).
🎵 Been There, Done That (Jeff and Sheri Easter, 1998)
Been there, done that, and I ain’t ever going back.
I’ve walked through salvation’s door—and there’s nothing worth returning for.
I’ll never live that life again. No way.
I′ve been there done that
This world can take a trusting heart
And crush it ’til it breaks
But I have found the shelter
Of the Father′s arms are safe
