“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” — Zechariah 4:10 (NIV)
I’ll admit it: sometimes I get frustrated with how slow things feel. I’ve been writing faithfully for two years, and part of me wishes I could skip straight to the New York Times Bestseller List. I sometimes don’t want the journey; I want the finish line!
But God doesn’t work that way. He builds us slow and steady, one brick at a time. What looks small or insignificant at times is often the very foundation He’s laying for something bigger.
Like this blog. What began as a sporadic hobby has turned into over 500 blog posts and one of my main platforms. I had no idea what God would do with it when I started it almost 10 years ago, but step by step He’s been weaving the story.
It reminds me of the old story of the tortoise and the hare. The hare rushed ahead, certain of his win, but it was the slow-and-steady tortoise who crossed the finish line first. Life with God is like that. It’s not about sprinting to fame or recognition — it’s about steady faithfulness.
Every prayer whispered, every page written, every act of obedience matters. They may feel like small beginnings, but in God’s eyes, they are seeds of something lasting.
So when progress feels slow, don’t lose hope: God rejoices to see the work begin, and He’s not in a hurry. He knows exactly what He’s building, step by step, brick by brick.
If you look hard enough, you’ll discover there’s always joy in the journey.
