Sometimes it feels easier to stay home. Pajamas, coffee, worship music playing in the background—it sounds peaceful, doesn’t it? And truth be told, there are Sundays when I’m so tired after days of traveling, that my bed seems the preferable place to communion with Christ.
But God didn’t design us to do life—or faith—alone. He built us for community. “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25, NIV)
There’s something powerful about gathering with other believers. Maybe it’s the shared songs, voices blending as if to remind us we’re not the only ones carrying burdens. Maybe it’s the simple conversations in the hallway, someone asking how you’re really doing and meaning it. Maybe it’s just the steady rhythm of showing up, week after week, creating roots that hold you when life feels shaky.
When I skip church, I miss out on encouragement I didn’t know I needed, wisdom I didn’t expect, and joy that comes only when we share life with others. Church isn’t perfect—no community is—but it’s where we find accountability, prayer support, and often, the push to keep going when we want to give up.
My Life Group does just that. It gives me LIFE. They hold me accountable, encourage me in the Word, and remind me that we’re not meant to walk this road alone. And yes—sometimes that “life” looks like today’s shared meal, potluck style, where love is passed around with the mashed potatoes.
The truth is, we’re better together. Alone, my faith can falter. Together, it gets stronger. Alone, my voice feels small. Together, our praises shake the walls of heaven.
That’s why I show up—because in the house of God, my faith finds family.
