Remember the story of Joshua and the Jericho walls that came tumbling down?
What are the Jericho walls in your life? And are you taking a sledgehammer to them or walking around blowing a trumpet and letting the Lord destroy them? Too often we use tools of mass destruction in our lives and then get upset when we are injured in the debris.
Victory only comes when we recognize it is the Lord’s battle and He cannot fail.
In Joshua 6, Joshua and his men are obedient to the Lord. They waited til the 7th day and victory was handed to them.
The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! Joshua 6:16
How many of us start blowing that trumpet on the 5th or 6th day and give up, thinking the Lord isn’t listening when maybe it’s just not time.
This week’s focus is to look at all the Jericho walls in your life. “Walk” around them by praying for an entire week. Listen for His command. Many times we hear clearly what to do but our minds try to reason out of it. Start training yourself to listen to God. Start believing that He is always there even when you don’t see Him.
Jericho (Andrew Ripp, 2021)
I was stacking up the years I spent trading punches with the enemy
Built myself a double thick stone
Tower of lies, higher than the eye could see
Trapped in my flesh and bone
Crying out to You Lord, I’m desperate
Love, come rattle this cage and set me free
All of my fears like Jericho walls
Gotta come down, come down
All of my fears like Jericho walls
Gotta come down, come down
Oh Lord, my prison turns to ruin
When Your love moves in
All of my fears like Jericho walls
Gotta come down, come down, come down
Truth was crashing through the pride and the blame
Cutting straight into the heart of me
Long before I ever called your name
You were fighting for my victory
Carved in Your flesh and bone
Are wounds that have said my souls forgiven
Oh now, I can feel the darkness trembling
