Media Monday: Liar

Standing up to Satan today, in a way I couldn’t do as a child, is empowering. I recognize his tactics; I no longer fall for his lies.

…(Satan) is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

But knowing Satan is a liar and identifying his lies are two different things. It’s like telling the difference between a real and counterfeit bill. Those taught to discern the difference aren’t given fake bills to study. They study the authentic ones so it’s easier to spot the counterfeit ones.

That’s how we should be with God. We study Him and His word, abhorring the devil so that when he pops up in disguise we recognize him because he is no match for the standard.

This week’s focus is not to call out the devil, identify his lies, or challenge him to a duel but rather to focus so intently on God that you know immediately when the devil in disguise makes an appearance.

By that, you’ll only be going HIGHER!

Liar (Jelly Roll, 2024)

You ain’t nothin’ but a liar
Yeah, I walk right out the fire
Yeah, you try to keep me down, try to put me underground
But I’m only going higher

I can hear you in my head, in my bed when I’m dreamin’
You try to be my friend, but you’re blowin’ smoke
Oh, and now I ain’t scared of tellin’ you where you can go
‘Cause I know, you’re nothing but a liar
