Media Monday: It’s Not Over Yet

I once created an entire playlist with this song at the top. The playlist itself was called It’s Not Over Yet.

I was trying to convince myself of something my heart didn’t fully believe. I did think it was over. I could not find hope.

My only saving grace was this song, the words sung in truth reaching the deepest places where Satan’s lies were not allowed to go. If I could believe this song to be true then maybe this wouldn’t be the end for me, I’d thought.

Listening today, it breaks my heart that I was so despondent. My heart hurts for anyone who needs to hear these words to know their life is worth living.

This week’s focus is forked. One end is for those suffering with depression and suicidal thoughts. Listen to this song every morning and evening for a week. Let the words settle in you and give you the spark of hope you’ve lost or fan the flames of the spark that’s dying out.

For those who are not struggling, spend this week praying for those who are. Reach out to someone you know who is in the depths of despair and share that you care. You never know what one tiny gesture could mean to someone.

I tell people all the time about Mrs. Rayetta’s raised eyebrow. That’s all it took. One raised eyebrow with a genuine smile that told me she loved me and was in my corner…but that I needed to get my act together. A look of wisdom, understanding, love, and accountability all rolled into one. It had a huge impact on me. You never know what you may mean to someone who’s struggling.

Philippians 1:6 states, “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

God doesn’t give up on you. Don’t give up on yourself.

It’s Not Over Yet (For King & Country, 2014)

They are inside your head
You got a voice that says
You won’t get past this one
You won’t win your freedom

It’s like a constant war
And you wanna settle that score
But you’re bruised and beaten
And you feel defeated

This goes out to the heaviest hearts
Oh, to everyone who’s hit their limit

It’s not over yet, it’s not over yet
And even when you think you’re finished
It’s not over yet, it’s not over yet
Keep on fighting
Out of the dark, into the light, it’s not over
Hope is rising
Never give in, never give up, it’s not over yet
