For I Know the Plans I Have For You…

I’ve shared often how total surrender to Christ has led to a life I never could have imagined. It is the deepest desires of my heart…multiplied by 1,000.

I discovered exactly what the Lord meant by Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

He took my long-held dream of being a full-time writer and combined it with my favorite things- theatre, gymnastics, festivals, travel, and more.

Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Sometimes we forget this is a causal statement. Or we switch up the cause and effect.

We don’t serve God IF He gives us what we want. Likewise we don’t get these deep desires of our heart simply because we want them. We receive them when we are faithful to the Lord.

The Lord loves giving gifts to His children. Matthew 7:11

At the Cenla Women’s Connection luncheon I attended yesterday, speaker Sandy Oestricher shared her testimony and one word from the Lord jumped out at me.

“My plan is greater than your preference.”

That one hit me upside the head like a 2×4. It doesn’t matter what I want. It doesn’t matter what I think is best. Sometimes things are not even going to make sense.

But He has a plan for my life.

All I have to do is remember the old song we learned as kids: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
