I was bullied as a child. When I finally learned how to fight back, I became somewhat of a “Robin Hood” bully myself. I bullied the girls who bullied other girls. If they couldn’t stand up for themselves, I would stand up for them.

It wasn’t my job- and the anger in me far surpassed anything the bullies had been dishing out- but it was rooted in once feeling powerless myself and a need to keep others from feeling the same way.

Now here I am in adulthood, thinking I’m long past the stage of tormentors and tyrants, when one line in TobyMac’s song ‘Lift You Up’ grabs me tight.

“So every time I get a mic in the palm of my hand. I’mma tear the place down like it’s my last stand.”

I backed up and listened to it 20 times in a row, knowing it was significant to this new season of speaking and sharing my testimony. I felt the fire. 🔥

Then I had the realization.

Satan is our biggest bully of all. And he doesn’t just want our lunch money.

He takes our families, our health, our friendships, our dreams…

He takes our self-esteem. He snatches our joy.

(Satan) comes to steal, kill, and destroy. John 10:10

If you are standing up against the enemy, I’m standing with you. With the Lord on our side, we are the Red Rover, Red Rover team no one can break through.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I with them. Matthew 18:20

If you are unable to stand on your own, I am there holding up your hands (Exodus 17:12-13) and walking by your side.

But when I get that mic in my hand, I blow it all up! Satan’s lies are exposed and all darkness is brought to light. He kept me quiet- and ashamed- for too many years. It was time to stand up to that dirty, yellow-bellied rat.

Satan is nothing but a bully. We need to respond exactly as we tell our kids- make some noise and stand up to him.

With Jesus on your side, you cannot fail!

I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19
