Spiritual Gifts

Breaking down a dream I had last night left me with a central truth: Many will receive the blessings of the Lord without ever coming to know Him.

Being brokenhearted is an appropriate response; being angry is not.

Have you ever shopped for the perfect gift for someone, considering their tastes, and imagining their response as they unwrap it only to not even receive an acknowledgment of the present at all? It makes you want to scratch them off next year’s recipient list.

Yet God continues to pour out His blessings to unthankful receivers.

We should be grateful as we all have fallen short at times.

We must continue to use our spiritual gifts to all mankind, not being respecters of persons or deciding who is worthy of God’s blessings.

There is only one Judge.

The man in my dream received a miraculous healing and immediately rose and trivialized hell. I was sorrowful for he’d missed what had just happened and his priorities in life were unchanged. But I wasn’t mad as I wished him well and continued to pray for him.

I know that was a dream because I’m fairly certain if it had happened in real life I would’ve been indignant and decided he no longer deserved my prayers and certainly not my hands. They’d be reserved for someone who would appreciate a gift of healing.

I would’ve been wrong.

We aren’t to pick up offenses for other people (Matthew 18:7) and certainly not for God. He doesn’t need a bodyguard or an advocate.

He IS the advocate.

It was a powerful lesson, one that reminds me that I still have a way to go in maturing in Christ. His lessons still come, even in sleep, and I’m here for them all.

I have but one goal in life now. I want to stand in front of Him one day and hear Matthew 25:23:

Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!
