The Lowest Common Denominator is always Jesus

God isn’t trying to teach you anything through the storms of life.

He’s trying to strip away all that you rely on except Him. It’s like the old math exercise where you are trying to simplify fractions.

He wants it to be you and Him alone. He is the denominator your numerator rests upon.

It’s easy to seek only Him when your world has fallen apart. We all know the pain and cries of agony.

Where could I go, oh where could I go?
Seeking a refuge for my soul
Needing a friend, to help me in the end
Where could I go, but to the Lord?

But what about when things are going well again? When we begin trusting ourselves and delighting in our circumstances?

Do we make Him of no effect? Do we forget our need for a Savior?

The Lord comes in the clouds and the storms are an ever-present reminder to depend on Him and Him alone.

Be grateful for godly people in your life. Be thankful for joyous circumstances. But depend on Him alone as you draw closer in the secret places each and every day, regardless of spiritual weather.

• Psalms 91:1
”He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”

• Matthew 6:6
”But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place”
