Where you are isn’t who you are

The words kind of just flowed out of my mouth earlier today before I realized the power of what I’d said.

“Whoa,” I’d said, stopping mid-sentence.

I know when the Holy Spirit speaks through me; I’ve learned to cherish those words as priceless currency.

I replayed them in my head. I’d been speaking about someone else but I realized they applied to me as well. To all of us.

WHERE you are when you’ve gotten in a mess spiritually is never WHO you are.

Satan tries to mix the two in our heads.

We can find ourselves down some dark roads. Sometimes we’re in the backseat, a child who is at the mercy of another driving. Sometimes we’ve called “Shotgun!” and jumped in the front. And sometimes we were right there in the driver’s seat on a one-way highway to hell.

But I like to think of those roads as turnabouts, or traffic circles as we called them in my hometown, not straightways. Because where you are isn’t who you are and who you are is a person created to worship the Lord. You can always do a U-turn.

All roads lead to Him.

No matter where you are.

Don’t let the devil, your neighbors, or the church members on the next pew convince you that you’ll never measure up. In Christ, you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Who you are is a child of God. Rest in the knowledge of His goodness and grace.

Where you are never changes that.

But it can rob you of life, peace, and joy.

There’s no greater feeling than knowing who you are in Christ and that you are right where He wants you to be.

Do you know WHO you are in Christ? Are you WHERE He wants you to be?
