Burrowing under the covers this morning with a puzzle game, I had to decipher a Bernard Shaw quote.
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
I pondered the thought for a minute.
It is true. We are searching for our identity almost from birth. Who are we? What are our likes and dislikes? Strengths and weaknesses?
I know after I “found” myself, I also had to create the version of me I wanted. Trust me, I tried on a few!
But they were all roles. It was just me in costumes, often garb Satan had surreptitiously placed in my dressing room.
I wasn’t myself until I settled into the identity He’d created me to be.
You were created in your entirety by the sole Creator. You were created before you were even in your mother’s womb. (Jeremiah 1:5)
Only you didn’t come out a perfect creature in Christ. You came out more like a D-I-Y kit with a full pamphlet of instructions on how to match the picture on the cover.
Life IS about creating yourself. It’s about crafting your life as a masterbuilder into the person God designed you to be. (1 Corinthians 3:10)
